6/24/2009 As of July 23, 2009, there are 74 co-sponsors signed onto HR 2373. Representatives from NJ that have signed on are: Rodney Frelinghuysen (D-NJ 11), Christopher Smith (D-NJ 4),Steven Rothman (D-NJ 9), Frank LoBiondo (R-NJ2) Through the efforts of the North Carolina Association for Medical Equipment Services (NCAMES) and the Georgia Association of Medical Equipment Services (GAMES), the Home Oxygen Patient Protection (HOPP) Act of 2009, H.R. 2373, was introduced in the House on Tuesday evening. The legislation is sponsored by Rep. Heath Shuler (D-NC) and Rep. Tom Price (R-GA). This will repeal the cap on home oxygen therapy that was enacted as part of the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005. Price introduced a similar bill in the 110th Congress, H.R. 621, which attracted 143 cosponsors. Democratic legislators should contact the office of Rep. Heath Schuler (D-NC) and Republican legislators should contact the office of Rep. Tom Price (R-GA) to become a cosponsor on this legislation.
