VGM Group, Inc. is the parent company of the nation’s premier member service organization for independent home medical equipment (HME) providers, orthotic and prosthetic practitioners, high-tech rehab and respiratory providers, and home modifications experts. Founded by Van G. Miller in 1986, VGM has evolved into a consortium of nearly 20 companies, most of which are focused on HME. VGM offers a myriad of business services to niche marketplaces and is a silent partner to thousands of members in the U.S. Canada and Puerto Rico.
Miller has been named one of the “Top 10 Most Influential People in the HME Industry.” HomeCare Magazine recognized him with its HomeCaring Award, the industry’s equivalent of a lifetime achievement honor.
The divisions within VGM Group, Inc. (and their initial operating year) include:
Van G. Miller & Associates, 1986: The original group purchasing organization negotiates contracts with major HME manufacturers to allow independent providers to be competitive with large regional companies and national chains.
VGM Insurance, Inc, 1990: This company provides a broad range of liability and property coverages for HME providers, orthotic and prosthetic practitioners and HME manufacturers. VGM Insurance also offers surety bonds to comply with Medicare requirements
VGM Financial Services, 1991: The financial arm of VGM, this company supports and designs lease/financing programs for VGM Group members, vendors and manufacturers. VGM Financial Services is now an affiliate of the TCF Financial Corporation (NYSE: TCB) which provides business-to-business equipment financing solutions to the HME industry.
VGM Technologies, Inc., 1992: VGMT provides technology-related consulting and a variety of communications products and services for VGM Group Members, other business entities and residential customers.
Orthotic and Prosthetic Group of America, Inc., 1993: OPGA is the largest U.S. member service group for independent O&P practices. In 2004, OPGA acquired POINT Health Centers of America a network of credentialed, independently-owned orthotic and prosthetic facilities.
HOMELINK®, 1993: HOMELINK is the largest national network of HME, IV therapy, O&P, Home Health Nursing and Physical Therapy companies, with more than 5,000 locations serving all 50 states. HOMELINK allows case managers the convenience of making one phone call and dealing with one entity.
Home Nursing Network of AmericaSM, 1994: HNNA operates as a subsidiary of HOMELINK, and offers independent Home Health Agencies participation in national managed care contracts.
U.S. RehabR, 1997: U.S. Rehab is a national alliance of NRRTS-registered Rehabilitation Technology Suppliers.
VGM Canada, 1998 and Motion Group, 2003: This network is a member service alliance for independent Canadian HME and rehab providers.
vgm creative, 1998: vgm creative is a graphic design and advertising agency that specializes in the home medical equipment industry and has developed a line of “off-the-shelf” marketing materials and a direct mail program for the end users of HME.
VGM Forbin, 1999: VGM Forbin offers complete Internet solutions, including Web design, hosting and proprietary products developed for the HME marketplace. Forbin was added to The VGM Group specifically to meet the technology and web needs of VGM Group members and other valued VGM customers.
VGM Education, 2002: VGM Education provides affordable, quality training programs that support the VGM members’ success in the home healthcare industry. Education partners with Participating Vendors and industry experts to offer training on the latest products, technology and services available. Education offers over 160 online courses, traveling workshops, monthly teleconferences, extensive forms library, BLUE sheets, and the annual Heartland Conference.
Nationwide Respiratory, 2005: Nationwide Respiratory (NWR) is dedicated to assisting members with the challenges faced by the changing respiratory market. NWR provides a network in which members can share ideas and gain knowledge through interaction with other providers across the country.
Accessible Home Improvement of America, 2009: Accessible Home Improvement of America (AHIA) is a comprehensive network of professionals dedicated to offering real solutions and independent living strategies for those who wish to age in place, the handicapped and the severely disabled.
